Disappointing

I bought it because I saw that the tplexport.com rating was high and that it was listed as tplexport.com choice. But the product was very disappointing. First it is not so called red skin. It is more light brownish with multiple dark brown spots on each one. Out of the five lbs bag, I may have seen 3-4 one with red skins. Second, I would say about 5-10{98880d97af0555a3a517c8aae666eeb64e7bd6d49cbbe05617dcb138f6e48200} tasted rancid, and the rest tasted just okay. Since the online description says all natural, I tried to sprout it since I like to sprout nuts and seeds. This one does not give any sprout at all.
I did find a couple of molded one in the bag. I don’t like it but I won’t take points away for that, since peanuts are very susceptible to molding.

Roast them right!

I am not sure what everyone is doing with raw peanuts but I am a sucker for roasted peanuts; And I love to keep things simple: roasted peanuts with salt; And I like them well done! And I eat a handful daily. Or even more.
Now, that being said, here is how I roast them: I fill about 1/3rd of a tall baking pan (~15”x10”x3”) with peanuts, then lightly sprinkle them with water and stir and sprinkle with salt (I use Himalayan pink from amazon). Set the oven to 375F and wait until it gets there, then place the pan inside and set the baking time to about 25 minutes. I am asking Alexa to notify me every 8 minutes, so I can stir the nuts and they will not get burned. When done, they look dark brown and I let them sit in a cool and dry spot until I’m ready to eat them. If you do not like “dark” roasted peanuts well done, then reduce the baking time.
Yes, it is true, in a baking pan I may find about 2-3{98880d97af0555a3a517c8aae666eeb64e7bd6d49cbbe05617dcb138f6e48200} that are rancid or taste bad, but for the price paid, we should not complain too much. Of course, you may always go to local B&M store and buy 1Lb of raw peanuts for $4.99

For those of you who like to “enliven” your peanuts by soaking/partial sprouting, these are GREAT. I haven’t run into a bad one yet – all are “alive” and kicking. For those of you interested in this method, just soak the peanuts for a day, changing the water from time to time. Drain and eat as they are or in various recipes. I particularly like them on all kinds of salads as they add a mild crunch.

I soaked, dehydrated and roasted these nuts and they really did not taste good. I will try just roasting and hopefully have a better outcome. I got them specifically to soak to decrease the lectins which are not good for stomach heath- and then to make peanut butter. Will have to do further research on that!

Peanuts are larger than the ones I bought at the store. My wife roast them with Potassium Salt for me due to health issues. Great snack!
