What Is DPT?
DPT or Dipropyltryptamine or N,N-Dipropyltryptamine is a member of the Tryptamine class. DPT is a chemical that is said to bring on strong psychedelic changes, it is associated with the spiritually enhancing effects synonymous with DMT and Ayahuasca. Anecdotal reports have mentioned experiences such as eternalism, predeterminism and perceived exposure to the inner mechanics of consciousness. Due to the strength of DPT it is inadvisable to be tested on participants with little psychedelic experience. Reports have said it is very similar to DMT in both the effects and unpredictability of the side-effects. DPT can cause highly unpredictable results, therefore ensure that prior harm reduction measures are put in place before experimentation takes place. It is important to note that DPT is not for human consumption, adequate measures should be taken when experimental research takes place.
DPT Chemical Properties
Chemical Formula: C16H24N2
Molar Mass: 244.37 g/mol
DPT is a member of the tryptamine class, it is a synthetic indole molecule. All Tryptamines share a core structure which is made up of a bicyclic indole heterocycle which can be found attached at R3 via an ethyl side chain to an amino group. Two propyl carbon chains can be found in DPT bound to the terminal amine RN of its tryptamine backbone.
Although little research has been done on DPT, there does seem to be some consistency regarding the effects of the research chemical on experimental research participants.
The following are some potential effects of DPT, due to the lack of research that has been done on DPT this is far from an exhaustive list:
Changes in felt gravity
Changes in felt bodily form
Bodily control enhancement
Drifting effect on visual perception (morphing, melting, flowing, breathing)
What Are The Potential Side-Effects of DPT?
It is important to take caution when experimenting with DPT due to the lack of research that has been shared on the chemical and its effect on humans.
The following is by no means an exhaustive list of the potential side-effects of DPT but will give an idea of the potential side-effects that may be experienced when research is conducted with the chemical.
Some of the known side-effects of DPT include:
Motor control loss: this seems to be a common side-effect regarding substances like DPT.
Pupil dilation: participants have been reported to have shown larger pupils than normal under the influence of DPT.
Skin flushing: Reddening of the skin and a warm flushing experience is another potential side-effect.
Spatial disorientation: common among the effects of those in the Tryptamine family, especially more so with the stronger psychedelics.
Tolerance to DPT is said to be similar to that of DMT. Therefore, within 2 hours the participant is back to baseline. Unlike many other Tryptamines, the use of DPT does not have any cross-tolerance clashes with other psychedelics, therefore their potency will remain the same.
UK – DPT is considered a Class A drug.
Germany – DPT is controlled under NpSG.
Switzerland – you will find it named as a controlled substance in Switzerland under Verzeichnis E.
Sweden – DPT is a controlled substance as of 2016 in Sweden.
USA – DPT is unscheduled, however it is an analogue of DET which is a scheduled narcotic in the USA. Therefore, an experimenter may find themselves in trouble with the law under the Federal Analogue Act.
